Weekly Homework 4/11/2019

Hi everybody,

We hope you all had a great midterm break and are well rested and ready for the rest of the term!

Here's the homework for the week:

Tricky Words:

We are starting to learn our new tricky words this week as we have revised all of the previous words. The new tricky words this week are: old and only.
Try to think of some sentences with these words in them, we had some great suggestions in class today!
Each child has also been given a Tricky Word Roll and Read game. To play this game, you will need a dice but we have given each child a printed dice on card that can be made at home if you don't have one.

How to play:
1. Roll the dice
2. Match the number of dots on the dice to the correct tricky word
3. Read the tricky word and say it out loud.
4. Cover the tricky word with a counter or even use a whiteboard marker to cross it off.
5. The game is over when all the tricky words are read and said out loud and all the words are covered with counters.

This game can be played together by taking it in turns to read and say the tricky words.

Handwriting:

Please complete page 22, 23 and 24 of our handwriting books. Remember froggy fingers! Ask children to take their time and maybe split it up so they are doing one section each evening.

Reading:

A new reader has been sent home if the reading record was signed and the book was in the folder. Please ensure to sign these once the children are finished as we cannot change their books until we get the go-ahead from you!

Sound Worksheet:

Our new sound this week is 'oa'. This is a tricky one as it can't really be sounded out so this needs to be recognised from sight as the 'O' letter sound.

Remember: 'When two vowels go walking, the first one does the talking!'

Oral Language Sheet:
We are learning all about The Fire Station for the next fortnight so have a read of the page together and chat about the important job a firefighter has and the different things that happen in the fire station.

As always, please feel free to contact myself or Maria if you have any questions or concerns.

Thanks,

Jessica
