Ralph the Reindeer Costumes

Hi guys!

By now, all children know their parts for the play. Our suggested costumes for the different parts are as follows:

Reindeer (Ralph, Rudolph and the 3 Reindeer):

- Antlers (we've spotted some for €4 in Penneys but any will do!)
- Brown trousers/leggings
- Brown top/jumper

Elves

- Hat (also spotted in Penneys for €4!)
- Red/green top/dress/leggings/trousers...anything with a mix of these colours!

Narrators

Jeans and a red or Christmas jumper

Santa's costume has very kindly already been sorted out, thank you all for your help!

Any questions, please let us know!

Weekly Homework starting 25/11

Hi all,

Here is the weekly homework:

Tricky Words:
The new tricky words this week are: where and who.
Try to think of some sentences with these words in them, we had some great suggestions in class today!

Tricky work roll and read game

How to play:
1. Roll the dice
2. Match the number of dots on the dice to the correct tricky word
3. Read the tricky word and say it out loud.
4. Cover the tricky word with a counter or even use a whiteboard marker to cross it off.
5. The game is over when all the tricky words are read and said out loud and all the words are covered with counters.

This game can be played together by taking it in turns to read and say the tricky words.

Handwriting:

Please complete page 31 and 32 of our handwriting books so they're all finished - yay! Remember froggy fingers! Ask children to take their time and maybe split it up so they are doing one section each evening.

Reading:

A new reader has been sent home if the reading record was signed and the book was in the folder. Please ensure to sign these once the children are finished as we cannot change their books until we get the go-ahead from you!

Sound Worksheet:

Our new sound this week is 'or'. This can be sounded out but it's better to read it all as one sound.

Oral Language Sheet:
We are learning all about The Bus Station for the next fortnight so have a read of the page together again this week and chat about what a bus driver does and why buses are great!

Winter Assembly:
Practice lines! (See separate blog post about these)

As always, please feel free to contact myself or Maria if you have any questions or concerns.

Thanks,

Jessica

A visit from the Fire Brigade!

The Senior Infant classes had such an exciting morning when we had a visit from Dublin Fire Brigade! We had learned so much in Aistear about the fire station so when we saw a real life fire engine in Belmayne ET car park we all got SO excited!

Our caretaker Jeff has a son in the Fire Brigade and his son Mark was kind enough to arrange for the fire engine and crew to visit us. We all got a turn sitting inside the fire engine, we tried on the fire helmet and Jessica and Jeff got to try on the mask and oxygen tank which was very heavy! We were shown the different equipment the fire fighters use when they are called to different accidents or fires and we even got a turn of the fire hose which seemed to magically spray water all over both classes!

It really was a fantastic visit and all the children were extremely excited during it and coming back into class after it. Thank you to Mark and all the crew in Kilbarrack Fire Station, we really appreciate you all taking the time to show us the brilliant work you do when you have such a busy and brave job!

Take a look at our great Friday morning and some fire fighters in the making!☺
