Winter performance tomorrow

Hi all,

Just a reminder that our winter shows will be taking place tomorrow:

Julie's class at 9.45am and Becky's class at 10.45am.

Could all children please wear their costumes into school in the morning with the exception of the animals. We have the dog, donkey, cat mask and cockeral costumes here, so the animals can finish getting ready in school.

Just a reminder that any child who is a narrator & musician, they should wear a

winter/ festive outfit - jumper or Christmas hat etc.

Thank you for all the hard work you have put in at home helping the children with their lines. It's much appreciated.

See you all tomorrow! We are all so excited to show you our play.

Winter Show Costumes

Children who are narrating our show can wear their own clothes (a Christmas jumper/hat if they wish).

We are finished homework (except reading) next week. Learning lines for the show will be the main homework task. Please ensure your child can say their lines off by heart and say them using expressions and a nice loud voice. Rehearsals will run more smoothly if every child knows their line asap.

Thanks,
Becky & Julie

Homework for Julie's Class

Homework for Julie's Class this week:
(Julie's class do not have written homework this week.)

Reading. *Please bring book in on Wednesday!* Parent helpers will be coming in to give a hand with the reading.

Learn lines for school play 'The Musicians of Belmayne'. Each child has a script with their lines highlighted.

Learn lyrics to the song 'Do they know it's Christmas?'. Lyrics have been sent home along with the script in your child's homework folder. This is an alternative version of the song about homelessness. It's a little tricky, but would be great if the boys and girls could learn it as best they can. Here's a link to the karaoke version to practice the singing. Once again, we have changed the lyrics so please check sheet in homework folder!

With regards to the costumes, myself and Becky are in the process of sourcing costumes for the donkey, dog, cat, cockerel and robbers. If anybody has anything appropriate at home for these parts could you bring them in please?

If your child is a narrator, they will need to wear a winter/ Christmas themed outfit like a Christmas or winter jumper and/or hat.

Thanks  a million!

Graded reader - Please try to do a little bit of reading each night.

Activity 4:
This year the children will have 2 tricky words each week for homework. The tricky words from last year are on a sheet in the homework folder if you feel your child needs to revise them.

The tricky words to memorise for this week are: put, could
*Please remember you cannot blend tricky words.

Suggested games to make Tricky Word learning fun:

Slap the word

Use one set of word cards. Spread a number of cards out on a table or the floor. Ask someone to say one of the words. Whoever is first to slap the word with their hand (or the back of a spoon) wins the word. We have played this game in class with spoons and the children loved it.

Silly Sentence

Spread the word cards out face down. Pick 3 cards and turn them face up. Say the words as they are turned up. Now try and make up a silly sentence that includes all 3 words on the cards.

Shout Out Loud
Spread the word cards out face down. Take it in turns to turn over one card at a time. The first person to shout out the word wins the card. Keep going until all the cards have been won. You can play this with silly voices e.g. whisper, roar like a lion, squeak like a mouse

Hunt the Words

Use one set of word cards. Hide a number of the around the room (your child must not look). The child has to find the cards and bring them back to you, saying the words as they find them.

Stepping Stones

Spread a number of word cards on the floor. Ask your child to jump from one word to another. As they jump they have to say the word they are going to jump to next. They must say the word before they jump.
